"SRI PARTHAN PALLI" refers to the Thiruppaarththanpalli temple, also known as Taamaraiyaal Kelvan Perumal Temple, located near Thirunangur, a small village in Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Here's a more detailed explanation:

  • Location:The temple is situated near Thirunangur, about 8 km east of Sirkali, en route to Thiruvenkadu. 
  • Deity:The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped as Taamariyaal Kelvan, and his consort Lakshmi as Thamarainayaki. 
  • Significance:
    • It is one of the 108 Divya Desams, sacred places for Vishnu, and is glorified in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham, a Tamil canon of the Alvar saints. 
    • The temple is also one of the eleven Divya Desams of Thirunangur Tirupathis and is closely associated with Thirumangai Alvar. 
    • The temple is believed to be the place where Krishna appeared to Arjuna as Parthasarathi (charioteer) and taught him the lessons of life, hence the name "Parthan Palli" (Palli=school).
