Vision of the Pathasala
Establish and run Vedic schools to primarily impart the Vedic knowledge along with Modern scientific knowledge. Prepare leaders for the society who can propagate the spiritual wisdom of the Sri Vaishnav Sampradaya within the context of modern science.
Our Vedas are the main source of all the knowledge in the world. Even in this age of modern science, the Vedic scriptures guide our worldly life, beyond physical knowledge, mind, soul, birth and death.
Temples are mirror of our ancient culture. They are bearing the essence of our all arts and culture. Agama subjects are main to teach us how to preserve and develop the temple arts.
Ancient Divine Tamil Poets namely twelve Azhwar’s devoted Bakthi songs are main reasons for Temple worship. Their songs will guide us to lead a blissful life to reach the almighty
Promote and preserve these the Vedas, Agamas and Nalayira Divya Prabhandam are the main vision of our Padasala.
Promote socio-cultural, religious, and spiritual activities in the society. Protect the environment and animal wealth, mainly cows and its progeny. Maintain a Goshala (place for cows).
Establishment of Our Nangur Padasala and its objectives:
World’s oldest literature are the Vedas – Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharvana Vedas. One of the world’s earliest grammar works is Agasthiyam (for Divine Tamil Language). Classical tamil works of our Azhwars are blessed by Sri Bhagawan himself as Dravida Veda!
Importance of Sri Thirumangai Azhwar, Nangur Village and Annadhanam at Nangur from Ancient Days:
From the ancient days, Thirunangur (located near Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai District, Tamilnadu) is known as hub of Sri Vaishnava Divya Desams, and blessed to be the birthplace of Sri Thirumangai Azhwar and Sri Kumuthavalli Nachiyar (wife of Sri Azhwar). Out of 108 Holy Sri Vaishnava Divyadesam, 11 Divyadesam is located in Thirunangur itself.
It is evident from the history that Sri Thirumangaimannan (Azhwar) instituted Food Donation / Annadhana Kainkaryam on daily basis at Nangur (Mangaimadam). This particular service / kainkaryam played an especially significant role in the life of Sri Thirumangai mannan (Azhwar) and transformed Sri Thirumangai mannan as Sri Thirumangai Azhwar. Even today, this particular event is celebrated as a festival in Thirunangur Divyadesam as Vedupari Utsavam in the tamil month of Panguni. Out of 108 Holy Sri Vaishnava Divyadesams Sri Thirumangai Azhwar alone did Mangalasasanam (sung in praise about the Glory of Bhagawan) to 86 Divyadesams. Also out of the celebrated 4000 Vaishnava Songs / Divya Prabhandham, Sri Thirumangai Azhwar alone bestowed 1253 Divya Prabhandham, (widely known as Dravida Veda).
In Dravida Veda, Sri Thirumangai Azhwar specifically mentioned about the functioning of a Veda Padasala at Nangur,
“ நாமனத்தால் மந்திரங்கள், நால்வேதம் ஐந்து வேள்வியோடு
ஆறங்கம் நவின்று கலை பயின்று அங்கு ஆமனத்து மறையவர்கள்
பயிலுமணி நாங்கூர்”
and showed us the dharma and the importance of Food Donation / Annadhana Kainkaryam. It is our duty to uphold this path, and we are taking earnest steps to continuously inherit it.
As part of our commitment in promoting our National Heritage, Arts and Culture, from the year 2001 onwards, we are running a Dravida Veda Agama Padasala at Thirunangur near Sirkazhi.
Here, we tech Veda, Divya Prabhandham / Dravida Veda, Vaishnava Agama and Bhagavath Gunam, etc. Apart from the above, we train the students in the presiding education system as per the State Educational Board. By this systematic approach, our students are studying B.A. SASTRI (PANCHARATRA AGAMA), a degree course at Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Tirupati.
